Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Compound Phellinus igniarius decoction is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal formulation developed by Zhejiang Cancer Hospital for the prevention and treatment of radiation pneumonitis. The preparation is a decoction based on *Phellinus igniarius*, a medicinal fungus traditionally used in East Asia for its anti-tumor and immunomodulatory properties. It is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for its radioprotective effects in patients with thoracic malignant tumors (such as lung or esophageal cancer) receiving radiotherapy. The mechanism of action is thought to involve the reduction of oxidative stress and the modulation of inflammatory cytokines to mitigate radiation-induced lung injury.
