Overview
Compound pseudolarix bark gel (复方土荆皮凝胶) is a topical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed and marketed by Hefei Everlife Pharmaceutical. It is specifically indicated for the treatment of fungal skin infections, including various forms of tinea such as tinea pedis (athlete's foot), tinea corporis, and tinea cruris. The therapeutic efficacy of the gel is derived from a combination of Pseudolarix bark extract, salicylic acid, and benzoic acid. Pseudolaric acids, the primary active components in the bark extract, exert antifungal effects by inhibiting tubulin polymerization and fungal growth. Salicylic acid acts as a keratolytic agent, softening the stratum corneum to enhance the penetration of the antifungal agents into the skin, while benzoic acid provides supplementary antiseptic and antifungal properties. This combination is designed to effectively eliminate dermatophytes and relieve symptoms associated with fungal infections.
