Overview
Compound Sanguisorba Suppository is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) rectal formulation indicated for the treatment of internal hemorrhoids (Stage I and II) and anal fissures characterized by bleeding, swelling, and pain. The formulation typically combines the hemostatic and cooling properties of *Sanguisorba officinalis* (Garden Burnet) with the potent astringent effects of *Galla Chinensis* (Chinese Gall) and the analgesic properties of Borneol. Sanguisorba contains triterpenoid saponins and tannins that promote vasoconstriction and blood coagulation. *Galla Chinensis* is rich in tannic acid, which precipitates proteins on the mucosal surface to form a protective layer, reducing exudation and shrinking hemorrhoidal tissue. Borneol provides a cooling sensation and local pain relief by modulating sensory nerve activity, specifically acting as an agonist of the TRPM8 channel. The product is widely used in clinical practice in China and is included in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia.
