Overview

Compound Shuangdi is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) compound formulation developed by the Fudan University Shanghai Cancer Center, specifically for the treatment of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). The formula is characterized by its primary components, *Rehmannia glutinosa* (Sheng Di Huang) and *Lycium chinense* (Di Gu Pi), which are combined with other herbal ingredients to target tumor progression. Mechanistically, Compound Shuangdi has been shown to inhibit the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and modulate the tumor microenvironment, primarily through the suppression of the TGF-β/Smad signaling pathway. It is typically used as an integrative therapy alongside standard chemotherapy (such as gemcitabine and cisplatin) to enhance therapeutic efficacy, reduce metastasis, and improve the quality of life for patients with advanced biliary tract cancers.
