Compound Tibetan caraway enteric soft capsule is a botanical drug candidate developed by the Tianjin Institute of Pharmaceutical Research for the treatment of functional dyspepsia, specifically the epigastric pain syndrome (EPS) subtype. The formulation is an enteric-coated soft capsule containing a combination of essential oils, typically caraway oil (derived from *Carum carvi*) and peppermint oil. These components work synergistically to alleviate symptoms such as epigastric pain and burning by exerting antispasmodic effects on gastrointestinal smooth muscle, likely through the inhibition of L-type calcium channels, and by modulating visceral sensitivity. The enteric coating ensures that the active ingredients are released in the small intestine, minimizing gastric irritation and optimizing local therapeutic action. As of 2021, the drug was undergoing Phase 3 clinical evaluation in China.
