Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Compound Tujinpi Tincture (复方土槿皮酊) is a topical herbal-chemical combination tincture developed and manufactured by Shanghai Xiao Fang Pharmaceutical and other manufacturers. It is approved as an over-the-counter (OTC) medication in China for the treatment of superficial fungal infections, including tinea pedis (athlete's foot/itchy toes), tinea corporis, tinea cruris, and general skin itching. The formulation consists of three active ingredients: Tujinpi (Pseudolaricis Cortex), benzoic acid, and salicylic acid, dissolved in an ethanol vehicle. Tujinpi contains pseudolaric acid B, which targets tubulin to disrupt fungal microtubule networks and inhibit growth. Benzoic acid acts as an antifungal and antibacterial agent by disrupting microbial cell membranes and lowering intracellular pH. Salicylic acid acts as a keratolytic agent by breaking down desmoglein proteins in desmosomes, reducing corneocyte cohesion to promote desquamation and enhance the penetration of the antifungal components into the deeper layers of the stratum corneum.
