Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Compound Xuanju (Fufang Xuanju) is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) capsule formulation primarily developed and manufactured by Zhejiang Wansheng Pharmaceutical. It is composed of four key botanical and animal-derived ingredients: *Polyrhachis vicina* (black ant), *Epimedium brevicornu* (horny goat weed), *Lycium barbarum* (goji berry), and *Cnidium monnieri* (snow parsley). The formulation is designed to tonify "kidney yang," replenish essence, and dispel wind-dampness. It is widely used in China for male reproductive health, specifically for erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, and asthenospermia (low sperm motility). Clinical research has also explored its utility in female reproductive conditions, such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and unexplained recurrent abortion, often as an adjunct to conventional therapies. Its pharmacological effects are attributed to the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axis, enhancement of nitric oxide production, and antioxidant activity.
