Overview

Compound Y is a 6-5 fused ring heterocyclic derivative originally designed by Eisai for anticancer research. It acts as a dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) inhibitor. In preclinical studies, Compound Y has demonstrated selective, broad-spectrum in vitro antiprotozoal activity against *Leishmania donovani*, *Plasmodium falciparum*, and *Trypanosoma brucei*, making it a potential candidate for repurposing against malaria, leishmaniasis, and African trypanosomiasis.
