Compound Yaolizi

Compound Yaolizi is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Hunan Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, specifically for the treatment of sepsis-induced acute lung injury (ALI). The preparation is a hospital-made formula (院内制剂) that utilizes Yaolizi (the fruit of Castanea henryi) as its primary active component. Compound Yaolizi functions by suppressing the systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) associated with sepsis. Its mechanism of action involves the inhibition of the Nuclear Factor-kappa B (NF-κB) signaling pathway, which leads to a significant reduction in the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-α) and Interleukin-6 (IL-6). By modulating these pathways, the drug helps to alleviate pulmonary edema, reduce oxidative stress, and protect the alveolar-capillary barrier, thereby improving respiratory function in models of acute lung injury.
