Overview
Compound yew capsule is a Chinese patent medicine (CPM) primarily used as an adjuvant or maintenance therapy for various malignancies, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), breast cancer, and ovarian cancer. The formulation is composed of extracts from *Taxus chinensis* (Chinese yew), which contains natural taxanes such as paclitaxel, along with other traditional Chinese medicinal herbs including *Panax ginseng*, *Astragalus membranaceus*, and *Ganoderma lucidum*. The taxane component acts by stabilizing microtubules, thereby inhibiting mitosis and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. The additional herbal components are intended to enhance immune function and mitigate the side effects of chemotherapy, aligning with the TCM principle of "strengthening the body's resistance and eliminating pathogenic factors." It is frequently evaluated in China for patients with "Qi deficiency and phlegm stasis" syndromes to improve quality of life and prolong survival.
