Compuna

Compuna is a fixed-dose combination oral medication developed and marketed by Bruno Farmaceutici for the management of lipid disorders. It contains two active ingredients with complementary mechanisms of action: rosuvastatin and ezetimibe. Rosuvastatin is a small molecule inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase, which reduces hepatic cholesterol synthesis. Ezetimibe selectively inhibits the Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) transporter in the small intestine, thereby blocking the absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol. This dual approach effectively lowers LDL cholesterol levels. Compuna is indicated for the treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia as an adjunct to diet and for reducing the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with coronary heart disease and a history of acute coronary syndrome.
