Computerized Olfactory Training (COT), also known as Computerized Olfactory Adaptive Training (COAT), is a non-invasive medical device and digital therapeutic developed by Evon Medics LLC for the treatment of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and early Alzheimer's disease. The intervention involves the chemosensory stimulation of the Primary Olfactory Cortex using proprietary neuroprotective olfactory stimulants combined with cognitive olfactory tasks. By targeting brain regions such as the entorhinal cortex and hippocampus, COT aims to leverage neuroplasticity to reverse brain atrophy and improve cognitive function. Phase 2 clinical trial results published in 2026 demonstrated significant improvements in cognitive composite scores and increased gray matter volume in key brain regions compared to sham controls. The technology is delivered via a portable, home-based digital sensory training program and has been applied for FDA Breakthrough Designation.
