This investigational combination therapy is being developed by PT. Prodia Stem Cell Indonesia (ProSTEM) for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. The therapy consists of two distinct biological components: a conditioned medium (CM) and umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs). The conditioned medium is the growth medium harvested from stem cell cultures, containing a secretome of growth factors, cytokines, and other signaling molecules with therapeutic potential. The UC-MSCs are live stem cells derived from umbilical cord tissue. The treatment protocol utilizes a dual-delivery approach: the conditioned medium is administered intranasally to leverage the nose-to-brain pathway for rapid delivery of neurotrophic factors, while the UC-MSCs are delivered via direct intraparenchymal injection into the brain. This combination aims to induce neurogenesis, provide neurotrophic support to damaged neural tissue, and modulate neuroinflammation to promote functional recovery following a stroke.
