Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Conjugated estrogens + norethisterone acetate is a combination hormone therapy used to treat menopausal symptoms and prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis. This combination contains conjugated estrogens (a form of estrogen) and norethisterone acetate (a synthetic form of progesterone). The estrogen component helps alleviate vasomotor symptoms like hot flashes and vaginal atrophy, while the progestin component (norethisterone acetate) helps prevent endometrial hyperplasia in women with an intact uterus. Norethisterone acetate is a synthetic second-generation progestin that induces secretory changes in an estrogen-primed endometrium and is approximately twice as potent as norethindrone on a weight basis.
