Consolidation #4 is a multi-agent chemotherapy regimen, specifically the VCPAD block, utilized in the treatment of newly diagnosed infant leukemia within risk-stratified clinical protocols. This regimen is part of a Phase 2 multicenter study led by Yonsei University aimed at improving survival rates in pediatric patients by eradicating minimal residual disease (MRD) following induction therapy. The regimen consists of a combination of five antineoplastic agents: vincristine, cyclophosphamide, cytarabine, daunorubicin, and dexamethasone. These drugs work synergistically through diverse mechanisms, including DNA alkylation, microtubule disruption, inhibition of DNA synthesis, and glucocorticoid-mediated apoptosis, to target high-risk leukemic cells and prevent relapse.
