Control Rx

Control Rx is the designation for the control arm intervention in a clinical trial (NCT05843500) led by the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). It represents the standard-of-care Guideline-Directed Medical Therapy (GDMT) for heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF), administered as individual tablets rather than a combined formulation. The regimen typically encompasses the four pharmacological pillars of HFrEF management: beta-blockers, sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRA), and renin-angiotensin system inhibitors (such as ACE inhibitors, ARBs, or ARNIs). This multi-drug approach targets various pathophysiological pathways to reduce mortality and hospitalization while improving quality of life in patients with HFrEF.
