Convalescent plasma-Aga Khan University-COVID-19 is a passive immunotherapy developed and studied by Aga Khan University for the treatment of severe or critical COVID-19. The therapy involves the intravenous transfusion of plasma collected from donors who have recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection. This plasma contains high titers of neutralizing antibodies and other proteins that target the SARS-CoV-2 virus, aiming to neutralize viral particles, suppress viremia, and limit the progression of the infection. It was primarily investigated in a non-randomized, open-label clinical trial at Aga Khan University Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan, to evaluate its safety and efficacy in reducing mortality and the length of hospital stay in hospitalized patients.
