Convalescent plasma anti-SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulins (COVIg) is a biologic therapy consisting of concentrated, purified virus-neutralizing antibodies (polyclonal immunoglobulins) derived from the plasma of individuals who have recovered from COVID-19. Developed by Erasmus MC in the Netherlands, the product is designed for passive immunization, specifically targeting the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein to neutralize the virus and inhibit its replication. It has been primarily investigated for the treatment and prevention of COVID-19 in immunocompromised patients, such as those with primary or secondary immunodeficiencies who fail to mount an adequate response to active vaccination. The preparation is concentrated to provide a higher titer of neutralizing antibodies compared to standard convalescent plasma.
