Convalescent Plasma-Grupo Mexicano para el Estudio de la Medicina Intensiva-COVID-19 is an investigational biologic therapy consisting of plasma collected from donors who have recovered from SARS-CoV-2 infection. This passive immunotherapy contains polyclonal neutralizing antibodies (IgM and IgG) that target the virus to inhibit its replication and reduce viral load. Developed by the Grupo Mexicano para el Estudio de la Medicina Intensiva (GEMI), the therapy was evaluated in the Phase 2 CPC-SARS clinical trial (NCT04405310) for the treatment of patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 pneumonia, with the primary goal of reducing mortality and improving clinical outcomes.
