Overview

Convalescent plasma-Skane University Hospital-COVID-19 is a passive immunotherapy investigated by Skåne University Hospital for the treatment of hospitalized COVID-19 patients with respiratory insufficiency. The therapy involves the administration of plasma collected from individuals who have recovered from COVID-19, which contains high titers of neutralizing antibodies and other immune components against SARS-CoV-2. In a randomized, open-label trial (NCT04600440), patients received 200 ml of convalescent plasma three times. The study aimed to reduce the duration of oxygen treatment and mortality; however, it was terminated prematurely due to slow enrollment and lack of significant clinical benefit compared to standard care.
