Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Convalescent plasma-Trinity Health Of New England-COVID-19 is a biological therapy developed by Trinity Health Of New England for the treatment of severe or life-threatening COVID-19. The therapy consists of plasma collected from donors who have recovered from COVID-19, specifically screened for high titers of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies (minimum total IgG titer of 1:320). As a passive immunotherapy modality, it works by providing immediate neutralizing antibodies that target the SARS-CoV-2 virus, the causative agent of COVID-19. This investigational treatment was evaluated in an FDA-approved Phase 2 prospective single-arm open-label clinical trial (NCT04343261) involving critically ill hospitalized patients, where it was administered as two consecutive 200-mL infusions to evaluate safety and clinical outcomes such as recovery and survival.
