Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A convalescent plasma therapy developed by the Vinmec Research Institute of Stem Cell and Gene Technology in Vietnam for the treatment of COVID-19. The therapy involves the intravenous administration of 500 ml of plasma obtained from COVID-19 survivors, which contains high titers (at least 1:80) of anti-SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies. These antibodies are intended to recognize and neutralize the SARS-CoV-2 virus, thereby reducing viral load and mitigating disease severity. The therapy was evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (CPCP) targeting hospitalized patients with moderate to severe COVID-19 to assess safety and efficacy in reducing mortality and the need for mechanical ventilation.
