Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Convidecia Air XBB.1.5 is an inhaled recombinant viral vector vaccine developed by CanSino Biologics for the prevention of COVID-19 caused by the SARS-CoV-2 XBB.1.5 (Omicron) variant. It utilizes a replication-defective Adenovirus Type 5 (Ad5) vector platform to express the SARS-CoV-2 XBB.1.5 variant spike protein. The vaccine is administered via oral inhalation using a nebulizer that converts the liquid formulation into an aerosol, allowing for a needle-free delivery method. This route is specifically designed to induce mucosal immunity in the respiratory tract, in addition to systemic humoral and cellular immune responses, providing a multi-layered defense against infection and transmission of the virus.
