Overview

Conyza canadensis methanol extract is a complex phytochemical research compound derived from the plant *Conyza canadensis*, commonly known as Canadian horseweed or Canadian fleabane. The extract is characterized by a diverse profile of bioactive secondary metabolites, including flavonoids, phenolic compounds, terpenoids, saponins, and tannins. In preclinical studies, it has demonstrated significant pharmacological potential, particularly as an antiproliferative agent against various human cancer cell lines such as HeLa (cervical), A431 (skin), MCF-7 (breast), DU145 (prostate), and A549 (lung). Furthermore, the extract exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by modulating levels of nitric oxide, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), and prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). It also possesses antioxidant, antibacterial, and antiviral activities, specifically against human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) and Coxsackievirus B3 (Cox-B3). Despite these promising research findings, the extract is not currently associated with any pharmaceutical developer and remains in the early stages of laboratory investigation.
