Overview
Coolprep is a bowel preparation agent used for colonoscopy. It is a combination drug containing polyethylene glycol (PEG) and sodium picosulfate. Polyethylene glycol acts as an osmotic laxative, drawing water into the bowel to soften stool and increase its volume. Sodium picosulfate is a stimulant laxative that promotes bowel movements by stimulating the muscles in the intestines. This dual action helps to thoroughly cleanse the colon prior to medical procedures.
