Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Coopers Spot-On is a veterinary insecticide formulation containing 1% deltamethrin (10 mg/ml) designed for topical application in cattle and sheep. As a synthetic type II pyrethroid, the active ingredient deltamethrin acts by disrupting the nervous system of ectoparasites. It specifically targets voltage-gated sodium channels, delaying their closure and leading to prolonged sodium influx, which results in hyperexcitability, paralysis, and eventual death of the parasite. The product is indicated for the treatment and control of a wide range of ectoparasites, including biting and sucking lice, flies, ticks, and keds, as well as the prevention and treatment of blowfly strike. It is applied as a ready-to-use spot-on solution directly to the animal's skin, typically along the midline of the back.
