Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**COP-Virosomes** is a preclinical, second-generation allergen immunotherapy for birch pollen allergy and associated allergic asthma. It combines Anergis' synthetic contiguous overlapping peptides derived from the major birch pollen allergen Bet v 1 with Mymetics' virosome delivery platform. The peptide-loaded virosomes are intended to reshape allergen-specific immunity toward a T-helper 1 response while avoiding induction of allergen-specific IgE and reducing pro-allergic T-helper 2 activity. In murine birch-pollen allergy models, the product reversed asthma-like symptoms and lung inflammation and outperformed either COP peptides or virosomes alone. Development has involved Anergis, Mymetics, and Stallergenes Greer. ([swissbiotech.org](https://www.swissbiotech.org/news/mymetics-anergis-successful-allergy-proof-of-concept-study/))
