Overview

Copper chloride is an inorganic small molecule being developed as a research-stage intrauterine formulation for the treatment of infertility. Specifically, it is investigated for patients with suboptimal endometrial thickness and recurrent implantation failure. The drug is delivered as a micro-dose of copper chloride (CuCl2) suspended in an inert carrier gel and applied directly into the uterine cavity. Its primary mechanism of action involves stimulating the production of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) within the endometrium, which promotes angiogenesis and increases endometrial thickness to improve the environment for embryo implantation. It has been evaluated in the NuLIFE clinical trial led by researchers at Flinders University.
