Copper-doped prussian blue is an advanced nanomaterial designed as a nanozyme, engineered by doping Prussian blue nanoparticles with copper. It is currently being investigated for selective antibacterial activity, particularly against Gram-positive bacteria, through a mechanism termed "starvation therapy" that disrupts bacterial metabolism by targeting essential nutrients[1][2]. Additionally, it is used in hydrogels for the controlled delivery of cytarabine in cancer therapy, where it also functions as a catalyst in Fenton-like reactions to generate hydroxyl radicals for chemodynamic therapy, augmenting the cytotoxic effects of chemotherapy[4]. The material may also exhibit photothermal properties when used in combination with copper peroxide, enabling synergistic antibacterial effects against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and promoting wound healing[5]. As of now, copper-doped prussian blue is primarily a research tool and investigational agent, not an approved pharmaceutical.
