Corabotase (IPN10200) is a recombinant botulinum toxin type A (BoNT/A) developed by Ipsen for aesthetic applications. Unlike conventional botulinum toxins that are purified from *Clostridium botulinum* cultures, corabotase is produced using a recombinant expression system, which allows for high precision in molecular design and manufacturing consistency. The drug functions as a zinc-dependent endopeptidase that enters peripheral cholinergic nerve terminals and selectively cleaves the synaptosomal-associated protein 25 (SNAP-25). This cleavage prevents the formation of the SNARE complex, thereby blocking the exocytosis of acetylcholine into the synaptic cleft. The resulting chemical denervation causes localized, reversible muscle paralysis, which is utilized to smooth upper facial lines, including glabellar, forehead, and lateral canthal lines. Corabotase is currently in Phase 3 clinical development, representing a next-generation approach to neuromodulator therapy in medical aesthetics.
