Overview
CoRal-ICP is a polyclonal antibody preparation (hyperimmune serum) developed by the Instituto Clodomiro Picado for the treatment of snakebite envenomation caused by coral snakes (*Micrurus* species) found in Central and North America. The product consists of purified equine immunoglobulins (IgG) obtained from horses immunized with the venom of *Micrurus nigrocinctus*. These antibodies work by binding to and neutralizing the neurotoxic components of the venom, preventing their interaction with nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction. It is approved and marketed for human use, providing a critical therapeutic option for envenomation by species such as *M. nigrocinctus* and *M. fulvius*.
