CoraVax

CoraVax (BBV155) is a dual-antigen vaccine candidate developed by Thomas Jefferson University and Bharat Biotech. It utilizes a recombinant, inactivated rabies virus vector to express the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. By leveraging the established safety and manufacturing infrastructure of the inactivated rabies vaccine platform, CoraVax is designed to provide protective immunity against both COVID-19 and rabies. The vaccine is particularly noted for its potential stability at standard refrigeration temperatures, facilitating distribution in regions with limited cold-chain infrastructure. Preclinical studies demonstrated robust neutralizing antibody responses against both pathogens, and the candidate has proceeded into Phase 1 clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity evaluation.
