Corchorus olitorius extract (CE) is a botanical extract derived from the leaves of the *Corchorus olitorius* plant, commonly known as molokhia or jute. It is characterized by a high concentration of bioactive polyphenols and flavonoids, which contribute to its significant anti-inflammatory and anti-hypersensitivity activities. CE works by suppressing the production of pro-inflammatory mediators, including nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), as well as the chemokine thymus and activation-regulated chemokine (TARC). Additionally, it inhibits mast cell degranulation, thereby reducing the release of histamine and β-hexosaminidase. Preclinical research in NC/Nga mice suggests that oral administration of CE can alleviate atopic dermatitis-like symptoms, such as scratching behavior and skin lesions, positioning it as a potential functional food or therapeutic candidate for inflammatory skin conditions.
