Cord blood-derived CAR-T cells (Henan Cancer Hospital) is an investigational allogeneic cell therapy being developed for the treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell malignancies, including B-cell leukemia and B-cell lymphoma. Unlike traditional autologous CAR-T therapies that utilize a patient's own T cells, this product uses T cells harvested from umbilical cord blood, which are genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting B-cell specific antigens, typically CD19. This approach is specifically being evaluated for patients who have failed prior autologous CAR-T cell therapy or for whom autologous CAR-T cells cannot be successfully manufactured. By utilizing cord blood as a starting material, this therapy explores an alternative to patient-derived cells, potentially offering a more readily available treatment option with T cells that may possess a more naive phenotype and a lower risk of graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) compared to adult peripheral blood-derived allogeneic sources.
