Overview

Cord plasma eye drops are a biological therapeutic derived from human umbilical cord blood plasma, used for the treatment of severe ocular surface diseases and neuropathic corneal pain (NCP). These drops contain a rich concentration of neurotrophic factors, growth factors (such as EGF, TGF-β, and NGF), and anti-inflammatory cytokines, which are significantly higher than those found in autologous serum. The therapy aims to promote corneal epithelial healing and regenerate damaged corneal nerves. Developed and utilized by the Singapore Eye Research Institute (SERI) in collaboration with the Singapore Cord Blood Bank, cord plasma eye drops are employed as a standard clinical treatment at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) for refractory cases of dry eye and other ocular surface conditions.
