Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Coretox is a protein-free, animal-component-free formulation of botulinum toxin type A (150 kDa) developed by Medytox. Unlike conventional botulinum toxin formulations, Coretox is purified to remove accessory complexing proteins, leaving only the active 150 kDa neurotoxin. This design is intended to reduce the risk of immunogenicity and antibody resistance during repeated treatments. Additionally, Coretox is manufactured without human serum albumin (HSA) or other animal-derived components, utilizing polysorbate 20, L-methionine, and sucrose as stabilizers to eliminate the risk of blood-derived pathogen transmission. It is approved in South Korea for aesthetic indications, such as the temporary improvement of moderate to severe glabellar wrinkles, and therapeutic indications, including upper limb spasticity.
