Coricidin is a brand of over-the-counter combination medications used to treat symptoms associated with the common cold, influenza, and allergies. Originally introduced by Schering-Plough in 1949 and currently owned by Bayer, the product line is most distinguished by its "HBP" (High Blood Pressure) formulations. These versions are specifically designed for patients with hypertension as they omit decongestants like pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine, which are known to increase blood pressure. The typical active ingredients include chlorpheniramine maleate (a first-generation antihistamine), dextromethorphan hydrobromide (a cough suppressant), and acetaminophen (an analgesic and antipyretic).
