Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Coriodermina is a topical water-soluble gel (jelly) formulated with 45% human placenta extract (EP-100), developed by the Center for Placental Histotherapy (HISPLACEN) in Cuba. It is approved and marketed for the treatment of psoriasis, and is also indicated for other dermatological conditions such as neurodermatitis, atopic dermatitis, and eczema. The active components in the placental extract work by regulating epidermal cell reproduction (specifically normalizing keratinocyte proliferation) and neutralizing inflammatory chemical mediators, including cytokines and neuropeptides. Coriodermina is applied topically to affected skin lesions and is typically used in conjunction with infrared light therapy or natural sunlight to enhance dermal absorption and therapeutic efficacy.
