CoroFlu

CoroFlu is an investigational intranasal live attenuated viral vector vaccine candidate for the prevention of COVID-19, built on FluGen’s self-limiting influenza vaccine backbone M2SR and designed to induce mucosal and systemic immunity against both SARS-CoV-2 and influenza.[3][6][8] The vaccine uses an M2-deficient influenza A virus that replicates in the nasopharynx but is restricted in the lower respiratory tract, and is engineered to express gene sequences encoding part of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein along with the influenza hemagglutinin antigen to elicit dual immune responses.[3][6][8] Developed through a collaboration between the University of Wisconsin–Madison, FluGen, and Bharat Biotech, CoroFlu is intended for intranasal drop administration to mimic natural respiratory infection, thereby enhancing local mucosal, humoral, and cellular immunity compared with intramuscular vaccines.[3][5][6][8][9][13][14]
