Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CoronaVac + BBIBP-CorV + Convidecia refers to a heterologous vaccination regimen against COVID-19, utilizing a combination of inactivated and viral vector vaccine technologies. CoronaVac (developed by Sinovac) and BBIBP-CorV (developed by Sinopharm) are inactivated vaccines that use a chemically weakened version of the SARS-CoV-2 virus to stimulate an immune response. Convidecia (developed by CanSino Biologics) is a viral vector vaccine that uses a modified adenovirus type 5 (Ad5) to deliver the genetic code for the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. This combination is primarily employed in heterologous prime-boost schedules, where individuals initially vaccinated with inactivated vaccines receive the viral vector vaccine as a booster to enhance neutralizing antibody titers and cellular immunity against SARS-CoV-2 variants.
