Overview

Coronaviruses: Single-domain antibody is a nanobody-based therapeutic candidate developed by Beroni Group in collaboration with Tianjin University for the treatment of SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) infections. The development program utilized a massive library of over one billion nanobody sequences to identify 24 high-affinity single-domain antibodies. Among these, 16 candidates specifically target the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein, functioning as neutralizing agents to block viral entry into host cells. These nanobodies have undergone optimization and humanization to minimize immunogenicity while maintaining high specificity and binding affinity. As of the latest reports, the program is in preclinical development, with ongoing efforts focused on animal testing and preparation for clinical trials.
