Overview

Cortagen is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Pro) developed by the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology. It was designed based on the amino acid analysis of Cortexin, a natural brain cortex peptide preparation. Cortagen acts as a peptide bioregulator that influences gene expression at the epigenetic level, specifically targeting genes involved in neuronal renewal and DNA stability. It is intended to stimulate repair processes in the central and peripheral nervous systems, improve neuronal communication, and provide neuroprotective effects. Clinical and preclinical observations suggest benefits in treating neurodegenerative disorders, cognitive decline, and post-traumatic nerve recovery.
