Cortex Mori Radicis extract (CMR) is a natural product derived from the root bark of various *Morus* species, including *Morus alba* (white mulberry). Traditionally utilized in Oriental medicine for the treatment of respiratory and metabolic conditions such as cough, edema, and diabetes, CMR is currently being investigated in preclinical research for its anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and neuroprotective properties. Its pharmacological profile involves the modulation of several intracellular signaling pathways, including the activation of the PI3K/AKT and ERK pathways and the upregulation of TRPC1 channels. In experimental models of asthma, CMR has demonstrated the ability to enhance the population of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ regulatory T cells and suppress the production of Th2 cytokines, including IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13. Furthermore, it exhibits cardioprotective effects in diabetic models by mitigating endoplasmic reticulum stress and promotes neurite outgrowth, suggesting potential utility in neurodegenerative diseases and diabetic complications.
