Overview

Cortivazol is a synthetic glucocorticoid classified as a high-affinity agonist of the glucocorticoid receptor. It is a small molecule steroid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties, used primarily for the treatment of musculoskeletal and joint disorders, often administered by intra-articular, periarticular, or epidural injection. Its mechanism involves binding to and activating the glucocorticoid receptor, leading to modulation of gene expression that results in anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. Cortivazol has been investigated for use in cluster headache and has demonstrated activity even in dexamethasone-resistant cells due to its unique structure[1][2][4][5][6][8].
