Overview

Corydaline is a pharmacologically active isoquinoline alkaloid found in *Corydalis yanhusuo* and related Corydalis species. It acts as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor and exhibits diverse biological activities, including antiacetylcholinesterase, antiallergic, antinociceptive, gastrointestinal modulatory, anti-parasitic, and anti-platelet aggregation effects. Mechanistic studies show corydaline as a potent inhibitor of cytochrome P450 enzymes such as CYP2C19 and CYP2C9, suggesting significant potential for drug-drug interactions. Corydaline increases gastric emptying and small intestine transit, inhibits chemically-induced pain, and may suppress mast cell-dependent smooth muscle contraction. It is currently under clinical investigation for functional dyspepsia. Additional research has revealed its activity in animal models for nematocidal efficacy, pain inhibition, and potential cardiovascular effects[1][3][4][5][7][11].
