Overview
Corydalis decumbens (Chinese name 夏天无, Xia Tian Wu) is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb known as Rhizoma Corydalis Decumbentis or Decumbent Corydalis Tuber. It is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) primarily to decrease blood pressure, relieve spasm, promote the circulation of qi, alleviate pain, activate blood and dissipate blood stasis. Indications include hypertension, sciatica, polio syndrome sequelae (such as hemiplegia), rheumatic arthritis and limb numbness. The herb is typically administered as a decoction or powder and can also be formulated into tablets or pills[1][5]. Compound formulations such as Fufang Xiatianwu Pian are used for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and sciatica[2][4]. The mechanism of action is not fully elucidated but involves vasodilation and anti-inflammatory effects according to pharmacological studies[2].
