Corylin-7-O-beta-glucoside is a novel small molecule glucoside derivative of the natural compound corylin, produced through biotransformation using the bacterial glycosyltransferase BsUGT489. This compound was specifically engineered to address the poor aqueous solubility of its parent aglycone, achieving a 14.2-fold increase in solubility. In preclinical research, corylin-7-O-beta-glucoside has demonstrated anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting lipopolysaccharide-induced nitric oxide production in murine macrophage RAW 264.7 cells (IC50 of 121.1 ± 9.5 µM). Additionally, it exhibits potent anti-melanoma activity against both murine B16 and human A2058 melanoma cell lines, showing superior efficacy compared to its precursor. It is currently in the research phase for potential applications in oncology and inflammatory diseases.
