Overview

Corynebacterium granulosum P40 is a particulate fraction isolated from the bacterium *Corynebacterium granulosum*. [15] It functions as a non-specific immunomodulator, stimulating the host's immune system to counter microbial infections and cancer cells. [20] Its mechanism involves the activation of innate immune cells like macrophages. [20] The P40 fraction is believed to consist of a peptidoglycan-like structure associated with a glycoprotein. [15] It was investigated in a Phase III clinical trial (NCT00002455) as a maintenance immunotherapy administered subcutaneously for patients with breast cancer, colon cancer, or melanoma following surgical resection. [14] Other research has explored its antimicrobial effects when administered via inhalation and its potential use in treating viral infections. [20]
