Drug intelligence / Profile preview
YMC026 (Cough-S Plus) is a multi-component fixed-dose combination antitussive and expectorant syrup developed by Yuhan. It contains five active ingredients: dihydrocodeine bitartrate, dl-methylephedrine hydrochloride, chlorpheniramine maleate, ammonium chloride, and *Pelargonium sidoides* extract. The formulation combines the opioid-mediated cough suppression of dihydrocodeine, the bronchodilatory effects of methylephedrine, the antihistaminic properties of chlorpheniramine, and the expectorant action of ammonium chloride with the mucoactive and antiviral properties of the herbal extract *Pelargonium sidoides*. It is primarily indicated for the symptomatic relief of cough and phlegm associated with respiratory diseases such as bronchitis and the common cold. The addition of *Pelargonium sidoides* to the standard four-component cough syrup base is intended to enhance clinical efficacy in managing respiratory symptoms.
