Drug intelligence / Profile preview
COVI-GUARD (STI-1499) is a fully human monoclonal antibody developed to neutralize SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19. It was identified from Sorrento Therapeutics' proprietary G-MAB antibody library after screening billions of candidates. The antibody binds to and neutralizes SARS-CoV-2, including the D614G variant, by preventing viral entry into healthy cells. Preclinical studies demonstrated 100% inhibition of viral infection in vitro and potent activity in animal models (Syrian Golden Hamsters). The drug is being developed as a potential treatment for hospitalized COVID-19 patients and may allow for lower dosing compared to other antibodies due to its high potency[1][2][8].
